Consumers across the country are being urged to stop using HydroTech 5/8-inch Expandable Burst-Proof Hoses after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall affecting approximately 3.6 million units. The recall applies to hoses manufactured on or before August 31, 2024, and sold through major retailers including Walmart, Home Depot, and Amazon.

The recalled hoses, which come in various colors and sizes ranging from 25 to 200 feet, were sold between January 2021 and April 2025 for $20 to $136. Specific date codes found under the rubber washer on the hose’s spigot-end indicate which models are affected. Consumers with hoses showing codes ending in numbers such as -211 through -243 or those lacking any code altogether are eligible for a full refund. Those who purchased their hoses from Ace Hardware, Do It Best, Home Depot, or Walmart should return them to those stores. Others are instructed to cut off the regulator-end of the hose and submit a photo with identifying information through Winston Products’ recall portal.
