Per a press release from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), approximately 1,400 LIVACTI retractable safety gates have been recalled due to a potentially fatal design flaw. The gates, which were sold exclusively on Amazon between December 2024 and April 2025, fail to meet federal safety standards because the space between the gate and the floor is large enough for a child’s torso to slip through, risking serious injury or death from entrapment.

The recall involves model LT-BG01-3 gates, which come in black, white, and gray. Each gate measures roughly 34 inches tall and extends up to 140 inches wide. The model number can be found on a white label affixed to the gate’s side post, and the LIVACTI brand name is printed on the packaging. No injuries have been reported so far, but consumers are strongly urged to discontinue use immediately.
Consumers seeking a refund must destroy the gate by cutting through the mesh, then submit a photo of the destroyed product to the manufacturer at support@livactihome.com. Refunds will be issued once the claim is verified. The gates were imported by Lichang E-Commerce, Inc. of Hacienda Heights, California, and sold by Chinese vendors Shenzhen Yiqiyuan Technology Co. Ltd. (Qeyan) and Shenzhen Yanyan Network Co. Ltd. (Yanyanny).
