Hundreds of motorcycle owners are being advised not to drive their vehicles following a recall of the 2025 CAN-AM CANYON model due to a defect that could cause a sudden loss of drive power and increase crash risk. The issue stems from the Drive Belt Lower Idler Support, which was manufactured using a material not strong enough to withstand normal downshifting loads. Owners may hear noises or notice damage to the component before the belt fails entirely, but in many cases, no warning signs are expected. The affected component was manufactured by Canadian supplier Matritech. Dealers were notified on July 10, and interim letters will be sent to customers on July 25. Final notifications with repair details are expected by August 15. Consumers will be instructed to park the vehicles and not drive them until the remedy is completed.
Bombardier Recreational Products is developing a redesigned part using the originally intended, more durable material. Dealers will install this new part free of charge. Until the repair is available, owners are strongly advised to avoid using the vehicle to prevent potential loss of propulsion while on the road.
