According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the bottles’ one-piece screwcap lids can become pressurized over time, particularly when filled with food, carbonated drinks, juice, or milk. This buildup can lead to the lid forcefully launching off when opened. So far, three consumers have reported being injured by the product, including two who sustained permanent vision loss after being hit in the eye.
The affected bottles were sold exclusively at Walmart stores and through Walmart.com since 2017, retailing for about $15. They are silver with a black lid and marked by the Ozark Trail logo. While the model number 83-662 is listed on the packaging, it is not visible on the bottle itself, making it important for consumers to cross-check purchase history or packaging if still available.

Consumers are advised to stop using the bottles right away and return them to any Walmart location for a full refund. The recall does not require proof of purchase, but customers can also contact Walmart at 800-925-6278 or visit their recall website for more guidance. The product was imported by Olympia Tools International Inc. and Walmart Inc., and manufactured in China.
