Federal resources have been deployed to assist communities in the Texas Hill Country impacted by severe flooding over the July 4 holiday weekend. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) dispatched specialized emergency response teams to support search, rescue, and recovery efforts following dangerous flash floods caused by intense rainfall.

The teams include members of the Border Patrol Search, Trauma, and Rescue (BORSTAR) unit, air crews from CBP’s Air and Marine Operations, and personnel from the Office of Field Operations. These units bring advanced capabilities such as aerial reconnaissance, swift-water rescue, and emergency medical response to support local and state authorities struggling with widespread damage and displacement.
CBP’s deployment is part of a long-standing commitment to assist in domestic emergencies. The agency, which functions as the nation’s largest law enforcement body, has a history of providing critical disaster response support, including during hurricanes and prior flood events. Their nationwide reach allows them to quickly mobilize personnel and equipment when local agencies are overwhelmed.
