Fire crews from Carroll County and neighboring departments responded shortly before 4:00 a.m. to find the building engulfed in smoke and flames. Approximately 50 firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control in under an hour, but not before the restaurant suffered extensive fire and smoke damage. The financial cost of the damage is still being assessed.
State Fire Marshals, accompanied by a K9 unit, are working throughout the day to determine the origin and cause of the fire. While the investigation continues, health and safety personnel from the county have been inspecting the structure and evaluating food safety conditions inside the building.

Despite the emergency response, nearby roads including Liberty Road (Route 26) and Ridge Road (Route 27) remain open, minimizing disruption to local traffic. However, residents who frequent Vanessa’s Corner Pub should expect the restaurant to remain closed until repairs and inspections are completed.
