The first recall, filed under NHTSA Campaign Number 25V382, involves eight Mack heavy-duty trucks from the 2025 model year, specifically the Anthem and Granite models. These vehicles were built with an electrical cable routing defect that could allow the 12-volt positive battery cable to chafe against the 48-volt negative ground stud. If the cables rub together, it could result in a short circuit that disables the engine or causes a fire. The defect is present in all identified trucks. Mack Trucks plans to reroute the power cables to restore safe spacing and prevent contact.

The second recall, under NHTSA Campaign Number 25V427, impacts 148 medium-duty electric trucks from model years 2024 through 2026. These electric-powered MD series vehicles do not comply with federal safety standards for accelerator control systems. In the event of a failure in the vehicle’s communication network (CAN bus), the throttle may fail to return to idle and continue delivering power, increasing the risk of a crash. A software update will be deployed to correct the issue by ensuring the throttle resets to idle within the required timeframe.
Both recalls include consumer advisories not to drive the affected vehicles and to park them outside until the repairs are completed. Dealer notifications are scheduled to begin in mid- to late June, while owner notifications will roll out in phases starting in August. Concerned owners will be able to check their Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) on the NHTSA website once the recalls are active.
