Drivers of Lincoln Aviator SUVs should prepare for upcoming dealership visits as Ford Motor Company has issued a recall affecting more than 132,000 vehicles nationwide. The recall covers Lincoln Aviator models from 2020 through 2025, produced between October 19, 2018, and May 30, 2025. Ford estimates that around 3.2% of these vehicles—more than 4,000 in total—may experience the issue. The affected components include the C-pillar trim appliques and window division bars on the rear side doors. These parts may not have been properly secured during assembly, increasing the likelihood of detachment.
Although Ford reports over 1,100 warranty claims related to the problem, the company is not aware of any accidents or injuries caused by the defect. However, loose or detached components falling into the roadway could contribute to crashes or damage to other vehicles.

Vehicle owners are expected to begin receiving interim recall notices by mail starting July 28, 2025. Dealerships will receive official recall instructions on July 22, and owners can contact Ford or Lincoln dealers at that time to confirm whether their vehicles are affected. Repairs, which will involve re-securing or replacing the trim components at no cost, will be available once remedy parts are ready. The timing of full repair notifications has not yet been determined.
To find out if your Aviator is included in the recall, visit Ford’s recall lookup tool or call the company’s toll-free line at 1-866-436-7332. VIN-specific information will be searchable starting July 22, 2025. Vehicle owners are advised to visually inspect their vehicles for signs of trim separation and to take precautions until repairs are completed.
