On the night of June 2, a 30-foot vessel carrying three individuals was detected approximately 22 miles offshore by surveillance aircraft operated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Air and Marine Operations (AMO). A marine interceptor vessel and a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter were deployed, intercepting the suspect vessel before midnight. On board, agents discovered 22 bales of cocaine, totaling 1,155 pounds, and an AR-15-style rifle. The individuals, all from the Dominican Republic, were also found to lack legal documentation to enter the U.S.

The suspects were taken into custody by the FBI, and the firearm was also turned over to them. The seized cocaine was transferred to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The interception underscores the role of federal agencies in preventing illegal drugs and firearms from reaching Puerto Rico and the mainland, contributing to regional public safety and law enforcement efforts.
