The issue centers on restraint tie-down pucks, which may have been installed without meeting torque specifications, making them susceptible to loosening. An estimated 80% of the recalled vehicles could have this defect. If the hardware becomes loose, the restraint system may not function correctly in an accident, compromising occupant safety. The problem stems from torque tools used during installation that were found to be out of calibration, leading to insufficient tightening of critical fasteners.
Braun began investigating the issue after receiving a customer complaint on May 28. Their quality control team confirmed the problem and implemented corrective measures at manufacturing sites the next day. The recall includes 130 Chrysler Pacifica units, 421 Chrysler Voyagers, and 1,029 Toyota Sienna Hybrids—all equipped with a floor-mounted puck system used to secure mobility equipment or occupant restraints.

As a remedy, Braun will direct dealers to remove and reinstall the affected hardware using correctly calibrated torque wrenches, with new thread locker applied. The company has already started inspections on unsold inventory and is preparing to notify dealers beginning June 16. Consumer notifications will begin in phases starting July 7. In the meantime, owners are advised not to drive the affected vehicles and to park them outside as a precaution.
