Anstead, who began her career with the Maryland Air National Guard in 2017 as an aerospace medical service specialist, transitioned into recruiting with a mission to make a deeper impact on both her fellow Airmen and the surrounding community. Her commitment to outreach, especially among underserved populations, mirrors the values of the award, which commemorates the legacy of a recruiter who fought terminal cancer with tenacity and optimism.
Beyond the training classroom, Anstead has quickly become a driving force in the local recruitment mission, already working with multiple new recruits and expanding the Air Guard’s visibility through community partnerships. The 175th Wing’s recruiting team, known for its involvement in initiatives like Meals on Wheels and STEM education, has twice won national team leadership honors, further elevating Maryland’s profile within the Air National Guard.
