We know you value local news and entertainment that is free, open, and independent. Producing high-quality, paywall-free content isn't free. It takes time, effort, and resources to keep you informed and entertained. The Special Education Workgroup will present its final strategies aimed at enhancing services for students with disabilities. These recommendations are expected to provide detailed actions for improving both support structures and educational results. The board will also consider a new Memorandum of Understanding with the Accountability and Implementation Board (AIB), establishing clearer roles for executing the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future—a wide-ranging education reform plan.

In addition, the board is scheduled to approve updated social studies standards. These changes are intended to align classroom content with best practices while encouraging tolerance and better academic performance. If adopted, teachers will need to adjust their curricula to meet the revised expectations.

The meeting will also include a recognition ceremony for outstanding school leaders selected by the Maryland Association of Elementary School Principals and the Maryland Association of Secondary School Principals. While primarily ceremonial, this acknowledgment reflects ongoing efforts to support leadership excellence within Maryland’s schools.
