A man wanted for skipping his murder trial in Virginia was arrested while attempting to re-enter the United States from Canada, according to federal authorities. The arrest, which took place at the Peace Bridge border crossing in Buffalo, brings a serious fugitive back into the custody of law enforcement, with local officials now working to extradite him to face charges.

On June 13, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers encountered Ball Salim Ahmed Ball, a 29-year-old Sudanese citizen and Lawful Permanent Resident of the U.S., as he attempted to enter the country by car. Ball stated he had been visiting friends in Canada. During the routine inspection, CBP officers identified an active warrant through the National Crime Information Center system and moved Ball to a secondary inspection area for further verification.
During secondary inspection, officials confirmed Ball was wanted by the Fairfax County Police Department for failing to appear in court on charges of first-degree murder and strangulation. These charges stem from an earlier case in Virginia, and Ball had reportedly not returned to court as required.

Once the warrant was validated, CBP transferred Ball to the custody of the Buffalo Police Department as a fugitive from justice. He remains in local custody while authorities coordinate his extradition back to Virginia. Law enforcement emphasized that while Ball has been charged, he remains presumed innocent unless convicted in court.
