Upon re-entering the United States by jumping over a fence, he was intercepted by CBP officers and taken to a secondary inspection area for further investigation. CBP officers confirmed Smith’s identity and warrant before taking him into custody. He was subsequently handed over to the Buffalo Police Department and is currently being held at the Erie County Sheriff’s Office in New York while awaiting extradition.
