More than 11,000 manual retractable pool covers from Endless Pools are being recalled across the United States due to serious child safety concerns. The recall affects units sold over a 30-year period and warns that improper installation may leave dangerous gaps large enough for children to become trapped or drown. Consumers who have purchased these covers are urged to take immediate action to prevent potentially fatal accidents.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall on June 12, citing noncompliance with industry safety standard ASTM F-1346 when the product is installed incorrectly. If the gap between the pool cover roller and the pool surface exceeds 4.5 inches, children are at risk of slipping under the cover unnoticed. While no injuries or incidents have been reported so far, the manufacturer has deemed the risk significant enough to require urgent repairs.

About 11,500 units were sold in the United States and approximately 480 in Canada between January 1994 and December 2024. The affected models include a hand-crank mechanism and come in multiple colors and custom sizes ranging from 8 to 16 feet in width. The pool covers were available through Endless Pools and its authorized dealers, both online and in stores, with prices ranging from $1,000 to $2,200.
