Mercedes-Benz USA has initiated two separate recalls affecting select 2022–2025 models, citing concerns over headlamp assembly components and pedestrian alert systems that may not comply with federal regulations. The first recall involves 127 vehicles, including the 2023 GLC 300 4MATIC models, while the second recall spans 94 vehicles, covering a range of EQ series and S-Class hybrid and electric models.

The initial recall addresses a manufacturing error where retaining caps designed to prevent unintended horizontal headlamp adjustment were not installed during production. Without these caps, headlamps could be improperly aligned, potentially affecting nighttime visibility and increasing the risk of collisions. Mercedes-Benz reported no warranty claims or incidents associated with this issue. Affected vehicles will have their headlamps inspected and retrofitted with the correct components at authorized dealerships. Vehicles produced after March 8, 2023, are confirmed to be free from this defect due to changes in production processes.
Separately, a software deviation affecting the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) prompted the second recall. The issue involves an inconsistent pedestrian warning sound during reverse driving, where an unintended noise tone is emitted instead of the standard beep. Although the system meets volume regulations, the sound discrepancy could increase the risk of accidents by failing to uniformly alert pedestrians. Mercedes-Benz plans to update the AVAS software at no cost to vehicle owners, ensuring compliance with FMVSS 141 requirements for consistent pedestrian alerts across models.

Both recall campaigns will begin dealer notifications on June 9, 2025, with owner notifications scheduled to follow by August 1, 2025. Mercedes-Benz emphasized that none of the affected vehicles had prior warranty claims or field reports related to these issues. Owners can expect no out-of-pocket costs, as all affected vehicles remain under their original warranties. Updated VIN search capabilities will be available concurrently with dealer notifications to assist owners in determining if their vehicle is impacted.
