Prosecutors allege that Harry Hartman, 54, engaged in a scheme between May 2023 and August 2024, during which he unlawfully removed packages from the Gettysburg Post Office. These packages were reportedly intended for delivery to Gettysburg College’s Print Center & Post Office, where they were to be made available to the final recipients. The charges were filed through a criminal information, a method that often indicates a plea agreement may be under discussion, though no details were disclosed.
The investigation was conducted jointly by the United States Postal Inspection Service and the United States Postal Service – Office of Inspector General. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney K. Wesley Mishoe. Authorities emphasized that a criminal information is not a conviction; Hartman is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

If convicted, Hartman could face up to five years in prison, supervised release, financial penalties, and a special assessment. Sentencing, if applicable, would be determined by a federal judge under statutory guidelines and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines framework.
