Duane Dixon, Jr., 35, of Aberdeen, Maryland, received a 15-month federal prison sentence after being found guilty of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and three counts of wire fraud. The verdict followed a January 2025 jury trial in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Evidence presented during the proceedings showed that a co-conspirator contacted a realtor in Winchester, Virginia, falsely claiming ownership of a Hampshire County property. The imposter listed the property for sale despite having no legal claim to it.

As the fraud progressed, banking details for an account controlled by Dixon were sent to a real estate closing agent in an attempt to redirect funds from the fake sale. Communications continued as the imposter attempted to finalize the transfer of money into Dixon’s account. FBI agents intervened, and Dixon, when questioned by an undercover operative, provided false information about his connection to the fraudulent transaction, aiming to facilitate the completion of the scheme.
