The subject, an El Salvadorian national, was quickly identified as a member of MS-13 following an investigation. After confirming the individual’s gang affiliation and unlawful presence, agents turned the suspect over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations. ICE Homeland Security Investigations agents also became involved and are conducting a deeper probe into the case. This incident marks the second apprehension of a confirmed MS-13 member in the Houlton Sector this fiscal year.
Border Patrol officials emphasized that the operation reflects their broader mission to safeguard communities by preventing the entry of dangerous individuals. CBP officials stress that while enforcement remains stringent, voluntary compliance is being encouraged through this new program.
