Authorities identified the suspected driver of the jet ski as Daikerlyn Alejandraa Gonzalez-Gonzalez, a Venezuelan national who entered the United States illegally on September 28, 2023. Also involved was Maikel Alexander Coello-Perozo, who allegedly fled with Gonzalez following the incident. The pair reportedly struck two vehicles while attempting to escape the area. Gonzalez has been charged with felony manslaughter, while Coello-Perozo faces charges of hindering apprehension.
Following their arrests, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued immigration detainers with the Grapevine Police Department for both individuals. ICE confirmed that both Gonzalez and Coello-Perozo were released into the United States in 2023 under the previous administration’s immigration policies. The two are now in removal proceedings pending the outcome of the criminal charges.

The case continues to draw attention due to Moore’s status as a future Air Force Academy cadet and the timing of the fatal incident over a national holiday honoring military service.
