A man from Ashburn was arrested Thursday after allegedly driving under the influence and striking a juvenile riding a scooter in Leesburg, Virginia. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on May 15, 2025, in the area of 22 Plaza Street NE, where a Leesburg Police officer witnessed the juvenile fall onto the roadway and stopped to assist.

Upon speaking with witnesses, the officer learned the juvenile had just been hit by a vehicle. The child sustained minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. The driver, identified as 63-year-old Victor Canchola, remained at the scene and was detained by officers for further investigation.
Police determined that Canchola was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated as well as driving on a suspended license. Shortly after being taken into custody, Canchola suffered a medical emergency and was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
