Durante King-Mclean, 26, of Cambridge, Ontario, entered the plea before U.S. District Judge Jennifer P. Wilson in Harrisburg. He was apprehended on September 2, 2023, after fleeing from a Pennsylvania State Police traffic stop in Franklin County. A search of the rental vehicle he was driving led authorities to 65 handguns, each concealed in socks and stored in the trunk. Among the recovered firearms, two were fully automatic, eleven were reported stolen, and one had its serial number removed.

Investigators determined that King-Mclean had communicated with co-conspirators beginning in April 2023. Prior to his arrest, he had been staying in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and had driven north toward Canada with the firearms in late August. His arrest occurred shortly before he was able to return to Canada with the weapons, which authorities believe were destined for criminal use. After his apprehension, Canadian officials also implicated him in a $22.5 million gold and currency heist at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport in April 2023.
