According to court documents, Vincent Ford, 22, was arrested following a February 2023 traffic stop in Prince George’s County. Officers detected marijuana in the vehicle and subsequently searched it, recovering a loaded firearm that had been reported stolen. Ford, who was seated near the weapon, also had a satchel containing fentanyl and oxycodone pills, along with over $1,000 in cash. Due to a prior felony conviction, Ford is barred from possessing firearms or ammunition.

He admitted to intending to distribute the controlled substances and acknowledged carrying the loaded gun to facilitate his drug activities. The firearm, a Taurus G3C semi-automatic pistol, was loaded with 14 rounds and ready to fire. The case further links Ford to a broader strategy targeting armed drug traffickers in Maryland.

Investigators also uncovered Ford’s involvement in a scheme to fraudulently obtain unemployment insurance benefits during the COVID-19 pandemic. Between June and November 2020, he submitted multiple false claims using stolen identities, resulting in at least $17,000 in fraudulently obtained funds. He personally withdrew over $2,500 from an account opened under one of the victims’ names. These actions form part of a larger pattern of pandemic-related fraud under scrutiny by federal prosecutors.

Ford faces a combined maximum sentence of 55 years in federal prison: 15 years for illegal firearm possession, and up to 20 years each for drug distribution and wire fraud. Sentencing is scheduled for November 3, 2025, before U.S. District Judge Deborah L. Boardman.
