A Harrison County resident will spend over two decades in federal prison following a significant methamphetamine trafficking case investigated across multiple counties in West Virginia. Kevin Herve Cayemitte, 36, of Clarksburg, was sentenced to 300 months in prison after being convicted of two counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Federal investigators began tracking Cayemitte after receiving a tip regarding his involvement in methamphetamine distribution in Harrison and Lewis Counties. During the investigation, authorities intercepted a package sent from Los Angeles, California, to a campsite associated with Cayemitte. The package contained nearly 2,000 grams of methamphetamine. Further searches of properties connected to Cayemitte uncovered additional quantities of methamphetamine and firearms.
Cayemitte has a history of prior drug-related convictions, which factored into the sentencing. In addition to his prison term, he will be subject to four years of supervised release following his incarceration.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda Wesley. The Greater Harrison Drug Task Force, which is funded through the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) program, led the investigation. Sentencing was handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh.
