Ford Motor Company has announced a recall of 326 model year 2025 F-150 trucks after discovering that they were manufactured without required airbag warning labels on the dashboard. The defect is attributed to a damaged network cable at the Dearborn Truck Plant, which caused a configuration update to fail, preventing an error-proofing system from flagging vehicles that needed the labels.

According to a safety recall report submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue was identified on April 10, 2025, when an inspector noted missing hang tags on newly assembled trucks. The lack of these labels means the affected vehicles do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 208, specifically section 4.5.1(e), which mandates labeling and owners guide information related to occupant crash protection.
While Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries linked to the issue, the missing labels could result in customers being unaware of airbag deployment information, potentially increasing the risk of injury during a crash. The automaker’s Field Review Committee approved a field action on April 16, 2025.

As a remedy, Ford will mail the appropriate dashboard airbag warning labels to affected vehicle owners. Unsold vehicles will be inspected by dealers, and the required labels will be installed as needed. Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed between May 5 and May 9, 2025, while dealers were notified beginning April 28. Customers who previously paid for such repairs may qualify for reimbursement under Ford’s general recall reimbursement policy filed with NHTSA.
