A Randolph County man with a long criminal history has been sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison for selling methamphetamine. Burlin Junior Howell, 60, of Elkins, West Virginia, received a 46-month sentence after pleading guilty to a charge of methamphetamine distribution.

Howell’s latest conviction adds to a history of prior offenses, including grand larceny, robbery, domestic battery, brandishing a weapon, and drug-related charges. His sentencing includes an additional three years of supervised release following the completion of his prison term. Authorities emphasized Howell’s repeat offenses as a factor in the sentencing decision.

The investigation was led by the Potomac Highlands Drug Task Force, which operates under the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) program. The task force consists of personnel from multiple agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, the West Virginia State Police, and sheriff’s offices from Mineral, Hampshire, Hardy, and Grant counties, as well as the Keyser Police Department.
