Kawasaki Motors USA has issued a recall for approximately 3,400 of its model year 2025 KX series motorcycles after identifying a defect that could lead to a crash. The issue concerns the primary gear for the crank shaft, which may fail during operation. The recall includes three motorcycle types designed for competition and cross-country use: the KX450, KX450SR, and KX450X.

The affected motorcycles were sold in lime green through authorized Kawasaki dealerships across the United States between June 2024 and March 2025, with retail prices ranging from $10,500 to $13,600. The recalled units include specific vehicle identification numbers (VINs) for each model. These numbers are located on the frame head pipe and correspond with model numbers found on the right side of the motorcycle.

No injuries or incidents have been reported in connection with the defect. However, Kawasaki advises owners to immediately stop using the affected motorcycles and contact an authorized dealer. Repairs will involve replacing the faulty primary gear at no cost to the consumer. The service will be performed at Kawasaki dealerships.
