The seizure took place on April 9, with final authorization occurring on April 21 after CBP collaborated with the trademark holder to verify the items were not authentic. Although the shipment was declared as accessories and bracelets worth only $15,480, the genuine equivalents would have retailed for approximately $9,222,800. The operation underscores CBP’s ongoing efforts to combat the importation of counterfeit merchandise, which officials warn undermines legitimate businesses, threatens consumer safety, and often finances illicit activities.

CBP emphasized the broader implications of counterfeit trade, noting that such goods can be linked to criminal enterprises involved in forced labor, money laundering, and organized crime. Additionally, counterfeit products are often of inferior quality and cost the U.S. economy billions of dollars annually in lost revenue and jobs.
