Forest River, Inc. has announced a safety recall affecting more than 4,200 of its travel trailers and fifth wheels from model years 2024 and 2025. The recall stems from a manufacturing defect involving detachable step brackets supplied by MORryde International that may lead to personal injury if not addressed. The affected trailers span 15 different model lines, all assembled during a timeframe from May 2024 to April 2025.

The defect involves a receiver bracket mounted on the side of the RV that supports removable steps. According to the manufacturer, some brackets were assembled without the required thread locking fluid, increasing the risk that the step assembly could loosen and detach while in use. If the component unscrews from its installed bracket during operation, it may cause the steps to fall, posing a safety hazard.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued recall number 25V-245 after Forest River received notification of the problem through MORryde’s recall 25E026 on April 10, 2025. Forest River subsequently verified which production plants and model lines were impacted based on supplier purchase records. All 4,270 affected units are presumed to contain the defect.

Forest River will offer free repairs through its dealer network. Authorized technicians will inspect and tighten the stainless steel receiver, applying a thread-locking compound to ensure it cannot rotate. If tightening is ineffective, the defective bracket will be replaced with an updated component verified to contain the proper locking fluid. Updated brackets, identified as part numbers STP54-077 and STP54-078, will replace the older versions STP57-515 and STP-641. The company began implementing the fix in production as of the week of April 14, 2025.
Dealer and owner notification letters are scheduled to be distributed by May 24, 2025. Customers who have already paid for related repairs may be eligible for reimbursement. Instructions on filing for refunds and repair assistance have been provided by Forest River, which has prioritized swift action and compliance in addressing the issue.
