General Motors has issued a safety recall for a small number of 2023 to 2025 Cadillac LYRIQ electric vehicles due to improperly fastened stabilizer bar bracket bolts, which could pose a risk to critical components and lead to a vehicle shutdown. A total of 17 vehicles are affected, all of which were manufactured between April 7, 2022, and December 11, 2024. GM has confirmed that 100 percent of the recalled vehicles may have the defect.

The defect involves the front stabilizer bar bracket bolts, which, if not secured correctly, could loosen over time. If both bolts on either side separate from the vehicle frame, the resulting loose stabilizer bar or bracket could damage high voltage cables or the battery’s EV coolant lines. Such damage could eventually cause the vehicle to shut down or become undriveable, increasing the risk of a crash. Drivers may notice a clunking or rattling noise while operating the vehicle, which may serve as an early warning.
The issue was initially detected at GM’s assembly plant on January 8, 2025. Following an internal report and investigation, GM determined that a software logic error in the tool used to tighten the bolts led to inconsistent torque application. No incidents or field complaints have been reported to date. GM has also notified Honda that certain GM-manufactured Acura ZDX models may be similarly affected, prompting Honda to consider a separate recall.

To address the problem, GM will have dealers inspect the affected vehicles and properly fasten any loose stabilizer bar bracket bolts. Since all vehicles remain under warranty, no reimbursement program is being offered. GM corrected the manufacturing process on January 16, 2025, by updating the tool’s software logic to ensure bolts are tightened to specification. Dealers were informed of the recall on April 10, 2025, with owner notifications scheduled to begin on May 26, 2025.
