A recall has been issued for Cooper Discoverer Stronghold AT tires due to a labeling noncompliance that may prevent consumers from determining the tire’s age, a key factor in evaluating tire safety. The affected tires, sized LT275/65R18 LRE, were manufactured by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company between February 2 and February 8, 2025, and lack a required date code in the Tire Identification Number (TIN). Without this information, users may unknowingly keep the tires in service beyond their safe operational lifespan.

The recall stems from a manufacturing error involving a single curing mold that was mistakenly equipped with a blank slug in place of the mandatory date code slug, specifically the “0525” code indicating the fifth week of 2025. This omission violates federal safety standards under 49 CFR §574.5, which require complete tire labeling for identification and recordkeeping. The issue came to light after a dealer reported the irregular TIN to Goodyear’s Product Service Center on April 10, 2025. An internal investigation confirmed the error by April 11.
Goodyear will replace all affected tires at no charge to customers. The company has instructed dealers to ensure all recalled tires are rendered unsuitable for resale before being returned for recycling. Consumers who replaced the tires prior to receiving a recall notice may qualify for reimbursement. Notifications to registered owners will be mailed between May 31 and June 13, 2025, with dealer notifications scheduled from May 19 to May 31, 2025.

The company stated that corrected production resumed with the installation of the appropriate date code slug beginning the week of June 25, 2025. Returned tires will be managed according to state and local regulations and diverted toward recycling or beneficial non-vehicular reuse when possible. Goodyear emphasized its commitment to preventing the resale of recalled tires and will submit a separate Dealer Notification Letter outlining these obligations in compliance with federal law.
