The affected vehicles, which include FEC7K and FEC9K models, were manufactured between September 22, 2023, and July 12, 2024. The defect may prevent turn signals from functioning properly, increasing the risk of accidents caused by unclear signaling intentions.

According to the safety recall report submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the vehicles were built using defective bulb sockets integrated into the headlights. Due to weak contact pressure in the terminals supplied by KOITO, the sockets are susceptible to overheating and melting from vibrations while driving. This can cause the flasher bulb contacts to fail, leaving the front turn signals inoperative.
The manufacturer reported no warranty claims or field reports from the U.S. market. However, failure rates for the KOITO headlamps exceeded 9% in Japan, prompting Mitsubishi Fuso to take preventive action by initiating the recall for all potentially impacted vehicles sold in the U.S.

To address the issue, Mitsubishi Fuso will replace the defective headlight assemblies with newly manufactured units from the same supplier. The replacement parts are built to design specifications without the prior variations. Customers who already had the repair performed before receiving this notice will be eligible for reimbursement.
The company plans to notify dealers via its portal on May 30, 2025, with customer notifications following by first-class mail on June 2, 2025.
