More than 7,000 Honda CB300R motorcycles spanning model years 2018 through 2025 are being recalled due to a defect that could cause headlights to flicker or fail entirely while in use. The issue, traced to an improperly designed headlight assembly, raises safety concerns over decreased visibility for both the rider and other motorists, heightening the risk of crashes or injuries.

The recall affects 7,212 units in total, with an estimated defect rate of 1 percent. Investigations found that the headlight circuit boards are vulnerable to vibrations caused by regular engine operation and road travel. These vibrations can lead to repeated bending at the wiring terminal base, weakening the wires over time and resulting in headlight malfunction. The problem stems from a cantilevered design of the circuit board substrates and unsecured wire routing, which together create stress points susceptible to fatigue.

Reports of flickering headlights first emerged in 2019, with continued complaints leading Honda to conduct an extended investigation. In November 2024, the company received a report involving a crash with injuries in the United States due to a headlight failure. By March 2025, Honda concluded that the condition posed a safety risk and announced a recall under NHTSA Campaign Number 25V-210 and internal reference KS0.

Owners of affected motorcycles will be contacted starting May 30, 2025, and continuing through July 31, 2025. Authorized Honda Powersports dealers will replace the headlight assembly with a redesigned version that includes securely clamped wiring paths to minimize vibration-induced stress. Those who previously paid for similar repairs may be eligible for reimbursement. The new component was introduced into production as of September 2, 2024.
