A children’s toy sold exclusively on Walmart.com has been recalled due to a serious ingestion hazard that poses a risk of severe injury or death. The recall affects approximately 600 units of the Multifunctional Puzzle Crab Toy, which contains high-powered magnets that violate federal safety standards. The product, manufactured by JinJiang Baimei Co. Ltd of China and imported by Lucky Bird Inc. of Buffalo, New York, was sold online between November 2023 and January 2025 for around $27.

The toy set includes a magnetic fish hook, eight magnetic pieces, four plastic puzzle parts, and a plastic mallet. Marketed under model number “HY-99,” the multicolor toy is packaged in a box labeled “Multifunctional Puzzle” on both sides. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the magnetic components can cause significant internal damage if swallowed. Ingested magnets can attract one another or other metallic items inside the digestive system, potentially causing intestinal perforation, blockages, infection, or blood poisoning.
No injuries or incidents have been reported to date. However, due to the product’s violation of federal toy magnet regulations, a recall was issued on April 10, 2025. Consumers are urged to stop using the product immediately, ensure it is kept out of children’s reach, and return the magnetic parts for a full refund. JinJiang Baimei is offering prepaid shipping labels and has begun direct outreach to affected purchasers in collaboration with Walmart.com.
