The consultation was held in Chandler, Arizona alongside the Tribal Self Governance Conference, allowing for broad participation from Tribal leaders and organizations. The Gila River Indian Community hosted the event, providing a platform for in-depth discussions on service delivery, food access, and future program enhancements. USDA officials expressed appreciation for the collaboration and insights offered during the session.

FDPIR currently serves approximately 53,000 income-eligible Native American households, including those on reservations and in other approved areas. The program is administered through 107 Indian Tribal Organizations and three state agencies, collectively supporting nearly 280 federally recognized Tribes. In addition to food assistance, FDPIR includes a nutrition education component aimed at promoting healthier diets and reducing food insecurity in tribal communities.
