T.W. Garner Food Company has issued a voluntary recall for specific lots of two of its Texas Pete® condiments due to safety labeling concerns that could pose health risks to certain consumers. The company found that some bottles labeled as Habanero Buffalo Sauce actually contained Sriracha Sauce, which includes sodium bisulfite—a sulfite that is not declared on the product label. Sulfites can trigger serious or life-threatening reactions in individuals with allergies or sensitivities. No adverse health incidents have been reported so far. Additionally, the Sweet CHAbanero Sweet Sriracha Habanero Sauce is missing its labeled ingredient, aged peppers, which includes red habanero peppers, salt, and vinegar.
The affected products were distributed from February 5 through March 26, 2025, and were sold across retail locations and distribution centers in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Jersey, Ohio, Virginia, and Vermont. Various sizes ranging from 2 fluid ounces to half-gallon containers are included in the recall. Specific UPC codes and best-by dates are listed by the manufacturer for consumer reference.
