Monkey Spit, LLC Recalls BBQ Sauces Due to Undeclared Allergens

Monkey Spit, LLC, a California-based company, has issued a recall for three of its barbecue sauces due to undeclared allergens that could pose a risk to consumers with food allergies. The affected products, sold in 12-ounce glass bottles, include Monkey Mop BBQ Sauce, Swamp Mob BBQ Sauce, and Atomic Mop BBQ Sauce. These products may contain milk, soy, and wheat that were not listed on the labels, prompting the recall.

The recall applies to specific batches of each product: Monkey Mop BBQ Sauce (best by 11/07/2026A) due to undeclared milk, Swamp Mob BBQ Sauce (best by 12/13/2025A) due to undeclared soy, and Atomic Mop BBQ Sauce (best by 03/19/2026D) due to undeclared milk and wheat. These sauces were distributed through retail stores on California’s central coast and online via the company’s website. Consumers with allergies to milk, soy, or wheat could face serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume the recalled products.

An FDA inspection led to the discovery of the undeclared allergens, which were traced to a temporary issue in the company’s packaging processes. No illnesses related to the issue have been reported. As a precaution, Monkey Spit has suspended production until both the company and the FDA confirm the issue has been fully resolved.
