U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport (DFW) recently intercepted 2.69 kilograms of cocaine concealed in a checked luggage bag. The discovery led to the arrest of a United States citizen who was handed over to the DFW Department of Public Safety for further processing.

The drugs were found after CBP officers identified the suspicious checked luggage and conducted a search. Inside the lining of the bag, officers uncovered multiple sealed packages containing a white powdery substance that later tested positive for cocaine. The seizure is part of CBP’s ongoing efforts to prevent the trafficking of illegal substances through U.S. ports of entry.

CBP’s border security efforts, managed by the Office of Field Operations, involve screening international travelers and cargo to identify and intercept illicit narcotics, unreported currency, weapons, counterfeit goods, and other prohibited items. On average, CBP officers and agents seize approximately 2,895 pounds of illegal drugs daily at air, land, and sea ports across the nation.

The CBP remains focused on preventing the entry of dangerous substances that contribute to drug addiction and abuse. Officials emphasized that their mission extends beyond drug interdiction to protecting the safety and economic well-being of the United States by stopping harmful goods before they enter the country.
