The fire originated in the passenger compartment of the vehicle, which is owned by Denesa Churchey. Preliminary findings indicate that the fire was caused by an incendiary action when a juvenile ignited mail and threw it into the vehicle. The incident required the response of the Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Department, with five firefighters bringing the situation under control within 10 minutes. Only one alarm was issued during the response.
No arrests have been made, but authorities have indicated that charges are pending as the investigation continues. Law enforcement and fire investigators are working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
