A joint law enforcement operation in the Florida Keys resulted in the arrest of seven undocumented immigrants with prior felony convictions, as U.S. Border Patrol agents, along with local and state agencies, intensified efforts to remove dangerous individuals from the community. The one-day sweep was conducted on March 21, 2025, by agents from the Marathon Station with support from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the Key West Police Department, and the Florida Department of Corrections.

According to officials, those taken into custody include Cuban nationals previously convicted of elder abuse, methamphetamine trafficking, and oxycodone trafficking, as well as a Guatemalan national with a conviction for DUI resulting in serious bodily injury. All seven individuals were identified as illegal immigrants with extensive criminal records.
The detainees were processed by Border Patrol and transferred into the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). They remain in detention pending removal proceedings. Authorities emphasized that the initiative was part of a broader strategy to strengthen public safety by targeting individuals with serious criminal histories.

That effort was also carried out by Border Patrol agents in coordination with ICE and local law enforcement. The agency has reiterated its commitment to working with all levels of government to remove criminal offenders residing in the country illegally.
