A central item on the agenda is the proposed PreK-12 Comprehensive Mathematics Policy, which seeks to create a structured and cohesive math program throughout the state. The policy is designed to enhance both conceptual understanding and procedural fluency in math, equipping students with skills applicable in academic, professional, and everyday contexts. Following feedback from a February public hearing and a March committee review, revisions were made to clarify accelerated course options, adapt instructional strategies for students with disabilities, update language, and fine-tune implementation timelines.

The Board will also deliberate on updates to the College and Career Readiness Standard. The revised CCR policy introduces broader criteria for determining readiness, reflecting students’ progress before and after grade 10. It recognizes multiple achievement indicators such as success in advanced coursework, career and technical education programs, and standardized college entrance assessments. The changes aim to provide greater flexibility in recognizing students’ varied paths to post-secondary success.
