Kenika Danielle Leach, 33, of Baltimore, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison following her conviction for leading a sex trafficking operation across Maryland. The sentencing, handed down by Judge Brett R. Wilson of the Circuit Court for Washington County, comes after a multiagency investigation led by the Maryland Attorney General’s Organized Crime Unit. The investigation began in December 2021 when a hospital patient told Baltimore Police that Leach had trafficked her from Hagerstown to the Baltimore area. Working with agencies including Homeland Security Investigations and Maryland State Police, authorities identified 10 more victims who were trafficked to hotels in Baltimore and Anne Arundel counties. The investigation involved examining cell phone, social media, and financial records, revealing that Leach provided drugs to the women and forced them into commercial sex to repay drug debts. She also used physical violence to maintain control.
On February 26, 2025, Judge Wilson sentenced Leach to 40 years, suspending all but 15 years, with five years of supervised probation. The judge also ordered her to avoid contact with any of the victims. The collaborative investigation involved numerous agencies, including the Baltimore and Anne Arundel County Police Departments, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and the Hagerstown Police Department, as part of the Blue Dot program, which trains healthcare professionals to recognize signs of human trafficking.
