Toyota has issued two separate recalls affecting over 146,000 vehicles, including the 2024-2025 Toyota Tacoma, 2025 Toyota Camry Hybrid, and multiple 2024-2025 Lexus models. The recalls address issues related to brake fluid leaks in Tacoma trucks and potential seatbelt defects in Camry Hybrid and Lexus vehicles, both of which pose safety risks.

The first recall, identified as NHTSA Recall No. 25V-058, involves approximately 106,061 Toyota Tacoma trucks manufactured between January 2, 2024, and January 17, 2025. Affected vehicles, which are four-wheel drive models equipped with specific brake and wheel combinations, may experience brake hose damage due to mud and dirt buildup. This damage could lead to brake fluid leaks, reducing braking performance and increasing stopping distances, which raises the risk of a crash. Toyota has advised owners to return their vehicles to dealerships, where both rear brake hoses will be replaced free of charge.

The second recall, NHTSA Recall No. 25V-059, affects 40,922 vehicles, including the 2025 Toyota Camry Hybrid, Lexus NX250, NX350, NX350h, RX350, RX350h, and RX500h. These vehicles, produced between October and December 2024, may have defective second-row center seatbelts due to a manufacturing issue at a supplier’s facility. The defect could weaken the seatbelt webbing, preventing it from performing as intended during a crash, thus increasing the risk of injury. Toyota and Lexus dealers will inspect the seatbelts and replace any that are found to be defective at no cost to owners.

Owner notifications for both recalls are expected to be sent by April 7, 2025, while dealerships were notified on February 6, 2025. Affected owners can seek reimbursement if they previously paid for related repairs. Toyota urges vehicle owners to check their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the NHTSA or Toyota recall websites for more details.
