KTM North America has issued a recall affecting more than 5,000 Husqvarna and GASGAS motorcycles due to a potential safety defect in the front brake caliper. The recall, identified as NHTSA Recall No. 25V-074, involves specific models from 2022 to 2025 that may experience reduced braking effectiveness due to a manufacturing defect in the brake caliper’s upper guide pin. The defect could result in cracks, increasing the risk of brake failure.

The recall impacts a total of 5,116 motorcycles, including the 2022-2024 Husqvarna FE 350s and FE 501s, as well as the 2024-2025 GASGAS ES 350 and ES 500 models. The affected motorcycles were produced between January 13, 2022, and May 16, 2024. According to KTM, the defect stems from casting irregularities in the brake calipers supplied by Spanish manufacturer J. Juan. These irregularities, detected through ongoing market monitoring, were first identified in April 2024.

The recall process involves inspections at authorized KTM, GASGAS, and Husqvarna dealers, where technicians will determine whether a motorcycle is equipped with the defective caliper. If the defect is confirmed, the caliper will be replaced with a corrected version. KTM has also stated that motorcycles manufactured after the defect was identified feature components from a different supplier and are not affected. No injuries or fatalities related to the defect have been reported.
Owners of the recalled motorcycles will receive notification by mail, with the first round of letters expected to be sent between April 7, 2025, and April 24, 2026. Dealer notifications will begin earlier, starting February 10, 2025. KTM urges owners of affected models to contact authorized dealers for an inspection and necessary repairs at no cost.
