Ducati North America has initiated a safety recall for the 2025 Panigale S/STD V4 motorcycles following the discovery of a defect in the rear brake system. This issue, which involves the rear brake hose between the ABS control unit and the brake caliper, may result in heat damage, potentially causing a sudden loss of rear brake functionality.

The recall affects 592 motorcycles manufactured between September 6, 2024, and December 19, 2024. The defect arises from an improperly positioned thermal shield, leaving the brake hose vulnerable to heat from the exhaust manifolds. While the front brake system remains unaffected, a loss of rear braking power could increase the risk of accidents. Ducati North America has not received any reports of injuries, crashes, or property damage related to this defect.

Ducati identified the problem through field reports and subsequent testing that revealed melted brake hoses. The company implemented a production line fix on January 10, 2025, to ensure the thermal shield is correctly positioned in future motorcycles. The recall was officially decided on January 14, 2025, after the company’s internal safety commission reviewed the findings.
