The victim, identified as Trevor Whiteley of Federalsburg, was a passenger in the Ford Fusion and was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash occurred shortly before midnight when the Ford, traveling south on Route 313, collided with the rear of the dump truck. The truck, operated by 24-year-old William Andrew of Cordova, Maryland, was stopped partially on the roadway while conducting snow removal and salting operations.

The driver of the Ford Fusion, Nathan D’Orlando, 19, of Denton, Maryland, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Shock Trauma by the Maryland State Police Aviation Command. Emergency personnel treated Andrew at the scene for minor injuries.
