The incident occurred on a Saturday afternoon when officers encountered a 52-year-old woman driving a 2002 SUV, accompanied by a 46-year-old male passenger, as they sought entry into the United States. A preliminary inspection raised suspicions, prompting officers to refer the vehicle for a more thorough examination.

Advanced scanning technology identified irregularities in the vehicle’s gas tank. A CBP K-9 unit then alerted officers to the presence of narcotics. Upon further investigation, 254.85 pounds of liquid methamphetamine were extracted from the gas tank. Field testing confirmed the substance as methamphetamine.
