A coordinated effort by the Maryland Car Rally Task Force (MCRTF) dismantled four illegal car rallies and prevented five others during New Year’s Eve operations. The task force, comprising multiple law enforcement agencies, also arrested three individuals, including a juvenile, as part of the crackdown targeting large-scale exhibition driving events across several Maryland counties.

From 11 p.m. on December 31, 2024, to 4 a.m. on January 1, 2025, the task force acted on intelligence about planned car rallies that aimed to disrupt public streets and industrial areas in Prince George’s and Baltimore regions. The MCRTF, leveraging its coordinated resources, successfully intervened in multiple gatherings across Baltimore City and Baltimore, Howard, Montgomery, and Prince George’s counties.
The arrests occurred during an event at Konterra Drive and Schweitzer Lane in Laurel around 12:30 a.m. Authorities detained Adin Carr, 20, of Rockville, who was charged with firearm possession violations, including possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a loaded handgun in a vehicle. He also faced charges related to outstanding warrants. A 16-year-old was similarly charged with firearm-related offenses. Another individual, Aberon Alem, 23, of Bowie, was apprehended after fleeing from law enforcement and was charged with eluding police and other traffic offenses.
