Border Patrol agents in Blaine, Washington, seized approximately 78 pounds of cocaine, valued at over $1.1 million, during a patrol near the U.S.-Canada border on Thursday. The narcotics, discovered in a wooded area, have been handed over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.

The drugs were found in two black backpacks lying on the ground near Lynden, Washington. Upon inspection, the backpacks contained 30 brick-like packages of a white powdery substance, which later tested positive for cocaine. Agents credited their vigilance in preventing the narcotics from reaching communities in the region.
