The incident occurred on December 17 when agents observed a white van bearing delivery service logos that appeared inconsistent with those typically seen on authentic vehicles. The van was stopped on Tierra Del Sol Road near Highway 94. Upon inspection, agents found nine individuals concealed in the rear of the van, lying on the seats and floor. Further questioning revealed that none of the passengers possessed the necessary documentation to be in the United States legally.
The driver of the vehicle was detained and is awaiting federal prosecution. Meanwhile, the van, confirmed to be a cloned vehicle used for smuggling operations, was seized. Border Patrol agents transported the passengers for further processing at a nearby station.
